It is essential to have the right type of training with the correct dosage, without overloading the body with exercise because the human body is just like a machine, if overloaded or operated in a wrong manner, it would destroy the system. A well-designed training session according to the type of sport is essential.
Today’s sportsman is putting in extra effort to enhance their exercising capacity, as it helps in building stamina and improves performance during crunch situations. To achieve the ideal prescription of exercise requires right frequency, intensity, duration, and specificity of exercise routine, where endurance exercises play a significant role.
Endurance training helps the cardiorespiratory and muscular system where large muscle groups are involved, to sustain the activity for a longer time. For an athlete to cover long distances of running needs endurance training, as his cardiorespiratory and neuromuscular system needs to provide the same amount of energy throughout the activity.
Cardiorespiratory endurance, also known as aerobic endurance, is the ability to sustain rhythmic exercises involving larger muscles for a longer time. The aerobic endurance improves the functioning of the heart and also increases the blood flow to the extremities, whereas when we talk about muscular endurance, the muscle can perform repeated contraction or even sustain a contraction over a while.
Further the various cardiorespiratory and neuromuscular adaptations that take place during the training increase the delivery of oxygen from the atmosphere to the mitochondria (a powerhouse of the cell) and regulate the muscles to generate more adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is one of the main components of energy.
