A sportsman’s body goes through a lot of wear and tear. They often need a therapy which can decrease the intensity of an injury or a wound that may have a long term effect on their body.

Abhyanga the traditional form of massage therapy helps in quick recovery from physical & mental fatigue, aches & pains by applying oils with a certain amount of pressure in specific directions. It provides a feeling of lightness in the body after a soothing massage.

It can be taught into the daily regime of a sportsman’s fitness schedule as it helps in bestowing clear vision, improves tactile sensations and stimuli of all the sensory organs, it soothes the nervous system and ensures a sound sleep.

It not only helps in maintaining good health but is also used as a therapeutic massage for the treatment of diseases. It plays an essential role in improving the functions of the musculoskeletal system, provides strength and elasticity to the tissues, thereby promoting increased mobility and range of movements.

Further, it helps in creating communication channels between cells of the human body by calming down the nervous and endocrine systems.

An early morning massage on an empty stomach after the digestion of the food consumed on the previous day is considered the best. It should be performed in the direction of the hair follicles in the limbs while in circular movements over areas of the joints which most likely improve muscular blood circulation as well as collateral venous & lymphatic drainage.

A regular massage recuperates the body and is rejuvenating.
